Bruce Banner The Hulk
Bruce Banner the Hulk is the original name of Dr. Banner. He first appeared in volume 1 of the Marvel Comic Book, Incredible Hulk in 1962. When enraged or frustrated, Bruce Banner the Hulk grows into a 7-foot tall green monster with superhuman physical strength. The Hulk transformations are a result of a nuclear explosion where Dr. Bruce Banner is exposed to gamma radiation.
Bruce Banner the Hulk becomes a fugitive who travels the country while searching for an antidote to his condition. Although he is calm and mild mannered as Bruce, once his anger is sparked the Hulk has the power to destroy anything in his path, entire cities and towns even.
As the Incredible Hulk was introduced to television, his identity changed somewhat. Bruce Banner the Hulk would become known as Dr. David Banner. Producer Kenneth Johnson, with the approval of Marvel Comic's Stan Lee, altered the history and storyline of the Incredible Hulk to make the Hulk TV series more appealing to prime time viewers. However, the Hulk's general concept remained the same - an angered Dr. Banner equals an even more furious Incredible Hulk.
